A new year dawns for NASCAR fans - the 50th Daytona 500 kicks things off on February 17th with other racing action. I love Speedweeks...everybody has high hopes and expectations. The Junior Nation will be buying all new gear with Junior's move to Hendrick. UPS gets ready to pass the torch from Dale Jarrett to David Reutiman and Dale goes to the TV booth replacing Rusty for ESPN/ABC (Thank God!), and the Gibbs boys prepare to run Toyotas. It will be an interesting year....
Local race fans have some concerns as the possibility exists Wall Stadium might become a thing of the past...not sure where they are headed...rumors of a shutdown and a sale of the track have been floating around. This would be another tough blow for area race fans on the heels of John Blewitt. Jr's death last August...
